Ópera estatal bávara

Bavarian State Opera – this Roman era-looking structure actually houses the Bavarian State Opera, which seats 2,100 spectators, was originally built during the mid-1700s. Its lush interior belies its previous history of surviving two fires – the first in 1823, and the second in 1943 (when World War II bombing raids destroyed it). Of course, it’s been rebuilt since then (in 1963), and currently holds a number of productions. Visitors can browse through its website for a schedule of upcoming operas, ballets, concerts and other cultural events: www.bayerische.staatsoper.de
