DDR Museum

Museo DDR
DDR Museum (Karl-Liebknecht-Strasse 1, Berlin Mitte) – this is a relatively new museum in Berlin. It’s dedicated to showcase life in the former (Communist) German Democratic Republic (known by its German acronym “DDR”). Its regular exhibit show a 1:20 scale model of a typical DDR prefabricated high-rise apartment. This interactive museum lets visitors go through the apartment’s drawers, closets and closed doors to find artifacts from the Cold War period. A tour guide is available to show visitors around. Visitors are invited to expand their knowledge, rethink clichés, and to experience history with all their senses. Most of the exhibits from every-day life were donated to the museum by private households. Admission: €6 (general); €4 (discount). Hours: 10 am – 8 pm (Monday – Saturday), 10 am – 10 pm (Sunday).
