METRO / BUS / TRAM Frankfurt
METRO/BUS/TRAM Frankfurt – this was Germany’s main city before the reunification of the East and West parts of the country. The Verkehrsgesellschaft Frankfurt (VGF), Frankfurt’s municipal transport authority, is in charge of seven subway lines, nine tram lines (Strassenbahn), 42 bus lines (plus nine night-time bus lines) and 670 stops
All of the various means of public transportation in Frankfurt work under a single ticketing system based on seven zones. Tickets include transfers and can be bought at the green, coin-operated machines wherever there’s a departure point. The zone map is printed on each machine in six languages. There are several passes which can prove useful to visitors. The Tageskarte is a one-day pass allowing unlimited travel during a 24-hour period within zones one to three. A week-long version is also available, as are single ride tickets. All tickets can be bought at the RMV ticket machines, with fares ranging from €2.60 (for a single ride), to €6.40 (day ticket) to a group day ticket (up to 5 persons) €9.50
